They are painted using firm oil paints allowing for the proper application using the wet on wet technique, also known as Alla prima "at first attempt", also known as direct painting, or au premier coup, is a painting technique where wet paint is applied to wet paint, usually in a single sitting. The Italian phrase alla prima translates to "at first attempt". Which is why I love it and will always call it the"Bob Ross" style because of his inspiration to us All.
